Sensitization Workshop on BREF process

As part of the project to develop a BAT Reference (BREF) Document for the Textile Industry in India, an online sensitization workshop was conducted by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) for the major textile industry clusters (Ghaziabad, Greater Noida, Mathura, Kanpur, Meerut, Bhadohi, Gautam Buddh Nagar (Noida), and Varanasi) in Uttar Pradesh.

The sensitization workshop aimed to capacitate officials, raise awareness on the BREF process and encourage participation in the preliminary data collection for the Reference Document. The participants in the workshop were the Regional Officers of Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board (UPPCB) from the concerned industry clusters, industries, and textile mill associations. It was a productive workshop, at the end of which, we received several inputs from industries on their expectations and concerns regarding the BAT reference document.

Representatives from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), German Environment Agency (UBA), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) and the Author (Re-Sustainability) (RSSPL) presented on different aspects of the BREF process during the workshop.

Mr. Kamlesh Singh (Scientist ‘E’), Division Head, IPC III, CPCB and Mr. Vivek Roy, Chief Environmental Officer, UPPCB delivered the Welcome Address for the workshop.
