Management of Fish Waste in the island City of Port Blair, India

The Andaman & Nicobar Islands (ANIs) have a coastline of about 1,962 km, a continental shelf area of 35,000 km2 , and an exclusive economic zone of 6,00,000 km2 . It is estimated that the fishery potential is 1.48 lakh MT which is 3.8% of India's total fishery potential. This growing fishery industry is producing huge waste which is causing major environmental issue for the tiny city of Port Blair. To find its gaps, practices and possible solutions GIZ India along with Port Blair Municipal Council (PBMC) conducted a study on Fish Waste Management in Port Blair.
The webninar will present the study and deliberate the recommendations along with 2 main partners i.e. PBMC & Fisheries Department, Government of ANIs...................lets join the webinar and find out more about the study and initiative taken by both the departments.
