ForestGuard: An open-source blockchain for deforestation-free supply chains
virtual
In the face of growing regulatory and societal demands for sustainable sourcing, transparent supply chains are no longer optional - they're essential.
Join us for an engaging session in our Innovations and Solutions webinar series, where we spotlight ForestGuard, an open source software developed by Fraunhofer IML. ForestGuard targets companies obliged to comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) and help meet these requirements. This solution supports companies in proving deforestation-free production in their coffee supply chains. It is also applicable to any other use cases in which a reliable information base and verification is required. Whether Environmental Social Governance (ESG) verifications or parts lists: ForestGuard aims to ensure real transparency in all directions of the supply chain, verifiable compliance and the ability to track, trace and visualise supply chain processes.
Our speaker Thuy Tien Nguyen Thi, is a Research Associate at Fraunhofer IML and explores the role of distributed ledger technology in building sustainable supply chains. She works across research, business, and policy to advance real-world adoption of Web3 technologies.

The âInnovations and Solutionsâ webinar series is initiated by the GIZ project âEnvironmental Protection Worldwideâ as part of the Export Initiative for Environmental Protection launched by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment. The Export Initiative aims to promote knowledge transfer, support the development and strengthening of networks, and provide advice to suppliers of environmental technologies on possible applications and investments in target countries.
This monthly and ongoing webinar series presents âInnovations and Solutionsâ to decision-makers and practitioners from the public and private sectors in partner countries. The objective is to establish initial contacts, expand knowledge of viable technological solutions, generate interest in their local application and lay the foundation for future cooperation.
