The project "The Collaborative Actions for Single-Use Plastic Prevention in Southeast Asia" or CAP SEA is financed by the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection (BMUV) and implemented by GIZ (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit).

CAP SEA implementation in Malaysia has recognized that introduction of circular economy principles in the production and trade along the waste generation hierarchy (i.e., reduce, reuse, recycle) are essential solution, and these focuses on SUP prevention strategies. CAP SEA is supporting the government of Malaysia to address the plastic crisis by focusing on upstream approaches to prevent single-use plastics from entering the market (such as re-use, recycled content targets, design for recycling and eco-design).

CAP SEA in collaboration with Ministry of Economy Malaysia (EPU) and Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC) are organizing a dissemination event to share knowledge products of CAP SEA to the project partners and relevant stakeholders for an onsite event at Putrajaya.

Objectives:

1. To disseminate all knowledge products from CAP SEA (August 2019 - March 2023) implementation in Malaysia.

2. To share experiences and lessons learnt and the way forward of CAP SEA in Malaysia.
